More about me

While French is my first language, I completed Electrical Engineering studies in the U.S with Bachelors & Masters degrees.I have been tutoring for over 10 years at local schools and privately. I have been fortunate to help countless students turn Math grades around, pass standardized Math exams and improve their understanding of the concepts. Every time, the excitement and/or relief on their faces when they get it brings me great joy.A few students and parents pointed out that they appreciate how I can explain things in a manner they can understand. Effective tutoring, to me, is not about showing off my knowledge, but breaking down concepts in a manner my student understands and can ultimately apply on their own. That's how the student's relationship with Math evolves and they approach Math problems with increased confidence, not stress. In those 10+ years of tutoring, students have also taught me! I have learned over time that tutoring is not one-size-fits-all! Twins may have questions about the same problem, but the same explanation will not necessarily work for both of them. I have learned to adapt my explanations and find different ways of explaining the same concept, and clients have mentioned that in their feedback.I usually work on Zoom, and I would break down problems on the whiteboard, answering questions along the way. Sometimes, I'd switch roles and let the student be my "tutor" on a problem, just to gauge understanding and highlight areas that may need more attention.Having seen many D's/C's turn to B's/A's, while I don't guarantee grades, I stubbornly believe that the combination of the student's hard work & my God-given ability to break down concepts will lead to quantitative and qualitative (confidence, understanding) improvements.
